How can I protect myself and family?
  • Once a year service all appliances that are powered by any fuel that burns - gas, coal, wood, oil, petrol etc
  • Sweep chimneys and flues
  • Do not block air vents
  • Make sure your family know the signs, you might be responsible and have your appliances checked, but they may be going into other peoples homes/ premises and may be at risk.
  • Landlords are legally bound to arrange annual gas safety checks
  • home owners are not legally bound to have appliances serviced but is strongly advised for your safety and is in place for a reason.
  • Have a BS approved, EN50291 Audible alarm fitted to your home. The Honeywell SF450EN alarm (rrp £39.99) can be supplied free of charge when you have 2 appliances serviced with Gas Care uk.
- Can't I just fit an alarm?
CO alarms are important but ARE NOT a substitute for servicing or annual safety checks. They can act as an emergency notification of CO, but is is important to prevent CO poisoning in the first place!

- WHEN DID YOU LAST GET YOUR APPLIANCES CHECKED?
