System Power Flushing
Is a process by which heating systems are forcibly cleansed using water at high speed, but low pressure, so that no physical damage is caused to the system. The objective is to clean and restore systems with circulation and boiler noise problems (caused by sludge and corrosion deposits) to optimum operation. Power flushing removes these deposits and the problems that they cause.
How Do I Know If I Need to Consider Power Flushing?
If your central heating system suffers from any of the following symptoms it would almost certainly benefit from Power Flushing.
- Central heating system slow to warm up
- Water in radiators is discoloured and dirty
- Some radiators partially or completely cold
- Radiators require frequent bleeding
- Central heating system has repeated pump failures
- The boiler makes kettle-like noises
- Radiators have perforations and leakages
- Warm water in the header tank
What Are The Benefits of Power Flushing?
- Increased efficiency to central heating and hot water
- Lower fuel bills
- Radiators heat output restored
- The whole central heating system is cleaned
- Aggressive water is removed
- Helps reduce boiler noise
- Sludge removal and de-scaling in one visit
- requirement for some boiler warranties
Why Do I Need to Power Flush My New Boiler?
The high efficiency and compactness of modern boilers make them more susceptible to problems caused by debris in the system water. Power Flushing removes any corrosion and sludge and prevent possible future problems. By not flushing your existing heating system before can reduce its efficiency by up to 20%.
UK Building Regulations require existing central heating systems to be thoroughly cleaned before connecting up to the new boiler, and power flushing is the best way. More importantly if not carried out this could invalidate your new boiler warranty if fault occurs due to system debris.
